Carers Awareness Training – 2.5-hour session

The aim of this session is to enable an organisation to explore and learn about ways that they can pro-actively engage with, and increase identification, referral and support of unpaid carers.

The session covers areas such as:

  • The Care Act
  • Understanding what is meant by the term ‘carer’
  • How to identify carers and know the type of roles they undertake
  • Consider the challenges that carers face and the support they may require
  • Encourage carers to access support
  • Know where to refer (with consent) people to locally for further support
  • Carers Assessment
  • Consider an action plan for how improvements can be developed to support carers within your organisation
  • Know legal responsibilities to carers in employment and/or under equal opportunities legislation

The session is very interactive and encourages participation and open discussion.
