Who Are We

Every-One is a Lincolnshire based charity that works inclusively with people to ensure that every one individual is at the centre of their own wellbeing. We do that by developing and delivering a range of person-centred services and projects that work towards ‘making wellbeing personal’.

We Know What Works

“For me, working at Every-One started as just a job, but quickly grew into a personal mission due to family experiences.

I know that services don’t always get it right, but I firmly believe in the benefits of working together with people to make things better for all.

At Every-One we pride ourselves in working with commissioners to develop bespoke support and services that meet local needs, whilst putting people at the heart of all we do. Our mission is ‘making wellbeing personal’ and together, with you, we want to work positively with people, because people are amazing!”

Charity Values

What does Every-One do?

Every-One prioritises the development and delivery of person-centred care, which we believe should be the standard across all areas of care no matter the circumstances

We strive to achieve this through contributing, facilitating and leading on a range of services including co-production, projects, research and training – in partnership with people, service providers and commissioners

It is important that we work with all involved in delivering services and those receiving them

Why?

We all have our own personal experiences of health, care and wellbeing needs and it is important to us that people, including those close to us, all have the opportunity to live their best lives. We do what we do because we care about people.

John worked in banking for 26 years in various roles and at various branches in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. He then worked at Lincolnshire County Council for 11 years in the Organisational Development Team. This was a corporate role involving organisational change, learning and development, customer experience management, business planning and change management. John took early retirement in 2014, and then spent a year doing some consultancy work, before joining the Every-One Board in October 2016.

Through his work at Lincolnshire County Council, John experienced the amazing contribution made by the many unpaid Carers in the county, and helping to care for parents living into their 90s helped him to empathise with those who look after relatives.

It was Every-One’s mission of being committed to providing support to carers and the people they care for that inspired John to get involved.

Originally from Grimsby, the fishing industry was very much a part of my family, with my grandad being a trawler skipper and my dad a fish filleter. Married at 18 and a young mum at 19 with three daughters, I was always keen to develop my skills and knowledge and to help others. To this end, whilst working at a pub part time, I volunteered at Grimsby Citizens Advice Bureau and started a getting back to work course (typing and office work) at Grimsby College. A lovely teacher there recognised something in me and suggested a ‘women returners to education’ course (Diploma); at the age of 26, I enrolled on the Diploma Course and progressed onto a degree – I achieved a BA (Hons) Humanities in 1992. Later that year I started work for local government and have continued to work for various local authorities from that time until my early retirement in 2020).

When my local government career started in 1992 I lived and worked in Grimsby until 2002 when, aged 40, I decided life really should begin and took a job in Nottinghamshire. However, a family illness brought me back to working in Lincolnshire for East Lindsey District Council in 2006.

I moved to a job at Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) in 2008, initially within what was then Economic Regeneration. After one of the numerous restructures over my years at LCC, when I moved to Public Health, I recognised the need to develop my knowledge and signed up for a Master of Public Health Degree; I am extremely proud to say I achieved my Master in Public Health (Leadership & Management) in 2015 – proud because, on top of a full time job, allocating time to complete the requirements for the qualification, was extremely challenging but all the more rewarding.

So, I have worked across a variety of local government services (Council tax, Leisure, Crematorium, Single Regeneration Budget funding, Economic Regeneration, Public Health, Environment & Highways and Communications) and have managed community development teams, Local Strategic Partnerships and grant funding agreements with voluntary sector organisations. My work has also always involved policy and strategy development and this has included facilitating the production of a Third Sector Strategy for Lincolnshire and a report on The Economic Significance of the Third Sector in Lincolnshire); all of my roles have involved working with local people, communities and the voluntary sector.

Keeping healthy in mind and body is important to me and to aid this I swim, walk my rescue dog and look after my grandchildren (looking forward to doing that again soon); my three grandsons aged 4, 6 and 9 and two granddaughters aged 9 and 12 certainly keep me active and happy in mind and spirit.
