Carers Awareness Training – 2.5-hour session
The aim of this session is to enable an organisation to explore and learn about ways that they can pro-actively engage with, and increase identification, referral and support of unpaid carers.
The session covers areas such as:
- The Care Act
- Understanding what is meant by the term ‘carer’
- How to identify carers and know the type of roles they undertake
- Consider the challenges that carers face and the support they may require
- Encourage carers to access support
- Know where to refer (with consent) people to locally for further support
- Carers Assessment
- Consider an action plan for how improvements can be developed to support carers within your organisation
- Know legal responsibilities to carers in employment and/or under equal opportunities legislation
The session is very interactive and encourages participation and open discussion.

The aim of this session is to enable an organisation to explore and learn about ways that they can pro-actively engage with, and increase identification, referral and support of unpaid carers.
The session covers areas such as:
- Understanding what is meant by the term ‘carer’
- How to identify carers
- Know where to refer (with consent) people to locally for further support
- Carers Assessment
- Know legal responsibilities to carers in employment and/or under equal opportunities legislation
A less interactive session which concentrates on enabling participants to have a full understanding of referral processes.
