Third ICE Event a huge success

County Carers logo. County Carers relaunch. Lincolnshire-based charity Every-One are pleased to announce that it is relaunching County Carers, a group for parent carers and families of adult children with learning disabilities and / or those on the autistic spectrum.

The I.C.E. event which took place over five days offered accommodation in gold apartments, offered a packed program of workshops, socializing and off course entertainment. A unique opportunity for people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism to enjoy the sort of event that many other people are able to access regularly.

The workshops covered two full days with options ranging from Yoga, Treasure Trail, Puppet Making, Weaving, Movie Charades, Circles, a Cake Decorating competition, Dance & Drama and Arts & Crafts, whilst Mixit, the international pop group ran an all day workshop for those people who wanted to prepare and practice for the Talent Show….. and there was still plenty of time to enjoy the amenities of Butlins.

Food was provided for in house catering and for the ‘Come Dine With Me’ evenings — another event that was thoroughly enjoyed by those who took part. One parent said: “it is so nice to be able to sit down to a nice relaxing meal with other parents and it is a great way to make new friends”. Other first class buffet meals were catered for by Butlins.

Evening entertainment was equally busy with Mixit and the Talent Show, Eastern Promise Belly Dancers, Linkage Adult Skills Performing Arts Group, with live music by Ali Willetts, the Outdoor Cats and the Dukes de Luda and of course the disco. Wednesday night was Movie Night, an extravaganza of dance and music where people had made a huge effort with their costumes to “walk the red carpet”.

Sadly it all came to a close on Friday morning and a lot of very happy people departed with requests for an invitation next year!
